We now enter spring and information regarding RAF families days starts to become available for the upcoming airshow season meaning four events have now been added to the 2017 calendar.

These events are RAF Marham, RAF Benson and RAF Odiham families days which are all the larger events that take place across the families days season.

The final addition to the calendar this update is the BrizeFest (RAF Brize Norton families days) which is more of a ground based event with usually a display from the RAF Falcons and some static aircraft.

July update

Posted by Website admin on July 23, 2016 at 12:55 PM Comments comments (1)

Well we have just gone past the half way stage of the RAF families days season and there has been some excellent events all over the UK. The last couple of days we have seen 2 of the UK's large families days, these being the RAF Marham and RAF Coningsby events with both events had put on excellent flying displays for those attending the event and of course the many people who were watching on the outside.

  • RAF Marham's families day on Thursday 21st had a little damper put on its event with the national covered incident of the attempted knife point abduction that happened in the morning hours just outside the station, but they still went ahead with the families day. The excellent flying display included a special flypast of Tornado GR4's and the Red Arrows.

  • RAF Coningsby families day that took place on Friday 22nd July had a very good display line-up, this included the excellent Belgium AF F-16 display team putting on a powerful display rarely seen at Families days in the UK and like Marham families day their was a very special flypast which included the BBMF (Lanc, Spit and Hurricane) and a RAF Typhoon.

If you have any pictures please feel free to upload them on the website.

May update

Posted by Website admin on May 13, 2016 at 9:05 PM Comments comments (0)
  • Well we are getting close to the first event of the season and this is not St Kendrew's Barracks open day (formally RAF Cottesmore), now this event is open to the public and is free of charge to attend, the reason its on here is because it is an event that is bringing all the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force units of Leicestershire and Rutland together and features flypasts from the Red Arrows and BBMF.

  • Breitling Wing Walkers and The Blades display team are attending RAF Coningsby families day this year which are great additions to the flying display. Also Jet Provost XW324 from Jet Aerobatics is making an appearance at some families days too.

  • Please feel free to upload your own families days pictures from previous or upcoming families day events.

  • Unfortunatly the type of information that i provide for aviaiton enthusiasts is not suited for the general public on Facebook and i have had to remove the Facebook page after various comment being made. But i am pleased that this website will run as usual.

  • The RAF Honington families day has been added to the calendar and the RAF Typhoon display dates have now been confirmed on a few events. I am still awaiting news on a few other events that usually take place including RAF Linton-On-Ouse, RAF Valley and RAF Odiham.

  •  It is agreat pleasure to see the return of the King Air display for this seaon after what seems like a large break from the display circuit.
